What I liked
That after making a written complaint, the answer to which I rejected as it was full of half truths and some false statements, I was given the opportunity to talk to management face to face.
What could be improved
Major problems are:
1. No proper understanding of Dementia among the nurses leading to accidents to patients.
2. Wards are understaffed for the number of patients they hold which again leads to accidents.
3. No notice taken of information provided by the family leading to wrong medication being given.
4. A failure to recognise a eye condition until alerted by a visitor. Again I suspect due to shortage of nurses on wards.
A TIME AND MOTION STUDY IS NEEDED.
The ratio of Non Medical to Medical staff is unbelievable. Bearing in mind that it is a HOSPITAL the Non Med trained staff outnumber the Medical staff. This despite the fact that some major services are contracted out.
This, I suspect, is as a result of Civil Service Empire Building with no proper control exercised by Senior Management as happens in many government organisations.
This could never happen in the commercial field as they would soon be driven out of business.
(The Board of Directors do not pay the wages. We the taxpayers do.)
