"Excellent care - thank you"

About: West Middlesex University Hospital

My 11 year old daughter was admitted to WMUH on March 3rd evening with a displaced fracture of her distal radius. I would like to thank all the staff involved in her care - the receptionist, nurses and doctors in A&E were all really helpful and supportive, they really calmed me down at a time when I was ridiculously distressed (I am a doctor and embarassed to admit I was in quite a state when booking in at reception! The receptionist was fantastic - sympathetic and reassuring.) It was a busy evening and there were many anxious parents with sick children but the staff were polite and helpful. My daughter was seen very quickly by a lovely triage nurse, given painkillers, sent for an Xray and referred to the orthopaedic team. The Ortho SHO who came down was kind and gentle whilst putting my daughter's arm in plaster. The staff on ? Nightingale ward were brilliant - special mention to the nurse who was on nights and the nurse and student who looked after my daughter the following day. She had an MUA under GA the following morning and again was so well looked after by the anaesthetic team and the surgical team. We were seen regularly in outpatients after that and again, the staff in OPD 3 on Monday mornings were all so friendly and helpful - especially the plaster technicians! The only stressful part of our experience was getting parking for our appointments and the long waiting times in clinic (always at least an hour but usually a little longer). I am a consultant anaesthetist at a London teaching hospital and am well aware of the pressures on staff - I would like to congratulate your staff on the service they provide given the constraints of the NHS. Thank you all.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give us your feedback. We have forwarded your message on to the A&E and Orthopaedic teams who really appreciate your kind comments. We hope your daughter is doing well now.
