"Thank you Dott Ward"

I was admitted to Dott Ward at short notice on the 1st April for spinal surgery on the following day. The nursing staff were fantastic. The anaesthetist came to see me that evening and went through everything in great detail and spent time answering my questions and generally putting my mind at ease. The ward was very organised and friendly. The theatre/ pre op staff were wonderful and reassuring. Unfortunately, for obvious reasons, I didn't get a chance to really meet my Consultant and Registrar (hope I got your ranks correct there) who actually performed the surgery but these guys are geniuses. Post op on the ward the nursing staff (I wish I could remember all your names - sorry !) were great fun and did everything to make sure I was comfortable. I hesitate to use 'I' because they were also very busy making sure everybody else on the ward was comfortable. I had read that the food was poor but a) I hadn't come to the Walton for the food; b) the food was very good; c) the catering staff were great fun and had great banter; d) go on TripAdvisor and see how most restaurants score on Neurosurgery. The ward was kept spotlessly clean and the cleaning staff were also chatty and cheerful. One week later I was discharged and, so far, recovery is going well. I had occasion to call the Spinal Nurse Team who responded very promptly and professionally. In summary I would just like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at The Walton Centre for the diligence, care and great humour with which I was treated. Kindest regards to you all.
