"Recent stay at ward 4"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

I have recently had breast surgery on ward 4 and cannot fault the surgeon and the staff in the theatre. this can not be said of the nurses looking after myself and other patients. I have been in this ward before and this experience I had was not the same? I was kept in for 2 days and on the day of release felt very unwell and was sick and in a lot of pain. I was told I was going home and I had not been seen by a doctor as I had been in the toilet when they arrived and then left. I got very upset explaining I did not feel well enough to go home and was advised by a staff nurse to get dressed and wait in the lounge. My neighbour from home was also in the bed opposite and was crying out to go on a bed pan the night before and even though I was also in great pain I tried to help help by getting up and speaking to the staff who then ignored a 99yrs old women and told me off for trying to help her when they didn't. It is a great pity that all the hard work that the surgeons do is lost due to a few individuals that lack care and attention.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback and for the kind comments you made about the surgeon who had cared for you. I was so sorry to hear that your experience was marred by the standard of care and communication provided by some members of the ward team; please be assured that I have brought them to the attention of Matron to discuss with the team. Should you wish to discuss your concerns in greater detail, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Care department on 01772 522521.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us of your experience. Whilst we were pleased to hear that your experience whilst in the operating theatre was of the standard we would aim to provide to all our patients, we were concerned to hear of your experience on the ward. If you would be willing to do so, can we ask you to please contact our Customer CAre Department on 01772 522521
