"Careful explanations about ear care"

About: Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I had an appointment at Everton Road treatment room to have my ears syringed. Before they did the treatment the member of staff asked if I had ever had any previous problem with my ears. I mentioned that 20 years ago one ear drum had been perforated while diving but that it had long felt ok. They said that because of this there was a risk or water getting in and causing an infection.

They could tell that I was frustrated and just wanted it down but they explained their reasons and the risks very well, told me where I needed to go instead and wrote me a letter to take with me. They also explain very carefully about ear care.

Recorded by Healthwatch Liverpool on behalf of patient.
