As the family of a patient who was admitted to hospital needing constant monitoring, this was just a week ago, we are now being told he is to be discharged! We have tried to speak to someone to get an understanding of the patients condition. Being told first one thing and then the other. We have attended the hospital daily, each time everyone is busy or we have seen someone different on each occasion. We understand hospitals are busy, unpredictable places. My father was a doctor; I get it! We found out who was the consultant looking after the patient. I spoke to their secretary over the phone to see if we could arrange a time/date to speak with the consultant regarding patient and was 'stone walled' without compassion! Being told that the doctor was unavailable that day or the next. The hospital want to discharge without explanation or consultation of family of this elderly, sick patient back home to their equally elderly partner. How can this still be happening? We are left feeling desperate, helpless and hopeless.
