My husband was admitted into Seaford Ward 4 last Thursday with urine retention which had caused impairment to his kidneys. This was picked up by our local Doctor's Practice in Burwash in their annual health assessment / tests, and our Doctor quickly followed up with requesting an ultrasound appointment at Bexhill Hospital who made the initial diagnosis and arranged for a bed in Eastbourne. This was all done in space of a week. The care and treatment he received in Seaford Ward 4 has been excellent. My husband is over 70 years in age and any concerns we may have had that older NHS patients might not receive 'as good' treatment as those who are younger - were dismissed immediately from our minds. My husband was without exception treated very well by the several consultants and doctors who saw him - he was kept fully informed about their views on the cause of his condition and the option/s for onward treatment once the 'emergency' situation was being managed. Their manner at all times was attentive, efficient and what was equally important to us was they were looking beyond the immediate diagnosis to make sure that nothing had been overlooked as a cause. All the other staff were all very friendly and polite and responsive and a pleasure to speak with. As a balance to other negative comments which I have seen about Eastbourne DG ...the food was declared 'fine' by my husband and he said he quite enjoyed the meals - and everything looked very nice when I saw meals being delivered. The ward always looked very very clean and on one occasion I saw a worker was cleaning a bed frame very thoroughly and cleaning all round a vacant bed/cubicle area with some nicely scented cleaning fluid in hot water . My husband said that they were constantly cleaning around the ward. I didn't see the WC's but my husband said they were fine and always clean. Once again - thank you to Eastbourne DG and Seaford Ward 4 Urology - we can never really thank you all enough for the swift treatment and the ongoing care - but we say thank you very much !
"Thank you to all in Eastbourne DG Seaford 4..."
