I recently underwent a colonoscopy at Torbay's endoscopy unit and I wish to record that every part of the process was carried out in the most effective and sympathetic way possible. Every member of staff was efficient - including those who set up the appointment, the medical staff and especially those actually performing the procedure. The appointments to see the consultant and to have the procedure were set up very promptly following a referral from my GP and I appreciated receiving a phone call about these in advance of the written notification. The consultant confirmed that I would need to have the investigation in a way that inspired confidence but did not cause undue alarm. The bowel preparation I had to do in advance was clearly explained with good written information and all went exactly as I was told it would. I opted to have sedation and really felt no discomfort at all during the procedure. Especial thanks to my assigned nurse. I do hope that the clinical directors and senior managers responsible for this service also see these reviews.
