"Review of Day Care Outpatients Unit (female)"

I do not normally write reviews however in this case I felt that I could not let the treatment I received go unnoticed. I visited the Female Day Care unit last week for a minor operation to be administered under general anesthetic. I have never had any kind of operation before and was quite nervous. However the treatment I received from the nurses on Chris King's ward was exceptional. I was kindly shown to my bed and given the privacy to change and my mum was even offered a cup of tea and biscuits whilst we waited (making me a little jealous as I was having to fast for my operation!). Each nurse and doctor came to introduce themselves to us and explain the procedure. The anesthetists were so nice and distracted me just before I was put under and I woke up to nurses asking if I was okay and helping me through recovery. This took a little longer than normal and after being given some morphine for the pain as I was shaking and rather nauseous a nurse stayed by my bedside the entire time as I was taking a while to come around. Back in the ward the nurses continued to constantly check on me and gave myself and my mum tea and biscuits. They ensured that my blood pressure was back to normal before letting me leave and when the time came that I was discharged they said goodbye. Chris King even pushed me in the wheelchair to the main entrance whilst my mum was getting her car, and waited with me in the entrance for a long time until she arrived as there had been some complications with the ticket! I would recommend this ward to anybody and want to thank all the nurses on that ward for turning a rather frightening experience into one where I felt cared for, attended to and looked after.
