What I liked
My last spell in the Conquest was in October 2008 as an emergency admission, but I have also received in-patient treatment in 2001 (emergency) and 2003 (elective). I have also had several out-patient investigations and treatments, and a number of A&E attendances for myself and members of my family.
Overall I have been very impressed with the consistently high standard of care that I have received over these 8 years. In 2001 my emergency admission was for surgery for a life-threatening condition and the service was particularly outstanding. My more recent experiences have also been good with staff working professionally and reassuringly, and treating me with dignity. The only exception to this was an indiscrete comment by a nurse on the ward last October, but I can forgive this in view of my overwhelmingly positive experience.
I find it reassuring that I can make these comments about my local hospital based on various episodes as an emergency, routine, in- and out-patient, and visitor, over nearly a decade.
Thank you Conquest! I will recommend you to anyone.
What could be improved
The indiscrete comment I referred to above involved patient confidentiality so perhaps a small number of staff need to be more aware of their responsibilities in this regard.
The food's not 5* standard, but you're not in hospital for a vacation and when you consider how much is (or isn't) spent on food the quality and variety is amazing. I always looked forward to mealtimes.
Cleanliness needs to be improved.
