I attended the Treatment Centre on the afternoon of 23rd March 2015 for surgery under Local Anaesthetic. All the staff in the ward were extremely friendly and welcoming. I felt very reassured by their manner. All questions asked by were answered with full explanation about my treatment in a confident manner. Prior to my procedure the Consultant came to see to explain what the procedure would entail, they also answered question confidently that I put to them. A nurse from the Theatre collected me and they explained their role in the Theatre as assistant to the Anaesthetist. Once in the Theatre I was introduced to the Anaesthetist by the consultant. I was immediately put at ease and throughout the whole procedure everything they did was explained to me. I felt the Theatre staff were an extremely confident team which in turn left me fully confident in what they were all doing. On completion of the procedure I was taken back to the ward and provided with refreshments. Once the write up of the procedure was completed I was allowed to leave with a full explanation of what to do with regard to the removal of stitches. The staff then arranged with reception for a taxi to be called to take me home. I was aware that some patients had been waiting some time to be dealt with, but for me I was in and out in less than 2 hours. This was my first experience of the Queen's and was fully satisfied with my short stay.
