What I liked
My 11 year daughter was a day patient for a planned surgical operation.(Level7.) I was very impressed by the hospital, both the physical surroundings (she was most taken by her "en suite" room!) and all the staff who provided excellent care..ward & theatre nurses, surgeon, anaesthetist and ancillary staff. The pre op visit was also very helpful and on all ocasions she was treated respectfully but with appropriate humour, as were we as parents.
What could be improved
We were lucky with parking on the day of the op as we were due in at 07.30 and there were spaces in the car park but I wouldn't even attempt to park a car later in the day. In an ideal world, of course we would use public transport/walk but juggling hospital appointments with work/school commitments makes this very difficult and I wouldn't recommend such post operatively.
Anything else?
As a former ward sister I consider my expectations to be very high. I am passionate about the National Health Service and it is to the credit of all the staff that the NHS is providing such excellent care at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital.
I would be very grateful if my comments could be forwarded to the staff of Level 7. Thank you ALL.
