"Difference between outpatient and the wards"

About: St Helier Hospital

Myself and my daughter have visited the outpatient departments on several occassions and can report I find them outstanding the staff are really friendly good and efficient. When I call to rearrange an appointment to fit in with all my disabled daughters needs they are really helpful. However going on the wards is a lot to be desired and will do my uppermost not to go there or to their the A and E ever again the treatment my daughter has received in A and E has been awful they don't listen to me about her needs and have done some awful things to her and on the wards even worse I can't leave her for a moment! They don't understand her needs don't have staff experienced in complex needs and don't have the time or patients. The doctors don't take the time to listen and treat you as if you are not the expert they know all about her even though I spend 27/7 with her!

We’re pleased to hear your praise for our outpatient’s departments, but it’s concerning to hear that our wards and A&E departments have lost your trust in caring for your daughter. Please could you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Services (PALS) team on 020 8296 2508 or via email at pals@esth.nhs.uk to give specifics that you are not satisfied with? This way, we can continue to make improvements were possible.
