"Drop off facilities"

About: Southmead Hospital

My Dad has a blue badge and can sometimes walk with a stick, sometimes has to use a wheelchair. I dropped him off this morning at the front entrance to the Brunel Building, although I was informed I cannot pick him up from there as the drop off area has changed. I was advised to leave him, go home and ring car parking services. However, the number for car parking services has a recorded message on it saying it is out of order. No alternative number is given. So now I am left with my disabled Dad stuck in the main building with noone able to tell me where I can collect him from!

Dear Anonymous – I was sorry to learn of your poor experience with the drop off and patient parking facilities. When the phase 2 building is complete, the public will generally enter the building (from the new multi-storey car park which will be created), or from the existing access. This will significantly reduce the flow of pedestrian traffic in front of the building and create many more disabled parking spaces, as well as improving the drop-off facilities. I do hope you see an improvement in parking and access when the building programme is complete in summer 2016 and hope you can bear with us until then. I can confirm the parking services number is now operational again. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post your comments. Kind regards – Steve Sykes Advice and Complaints Team
