"Parkinson's Outpatients"

About: Colchester General Hospital

I have had Parkinson's for the last 7 years and my treatment has been absolutely fine until now. My Consultant is great and the nurses have been. The trouble is that the only Parkinson's Nurse left and it will not be until June before they have another one. My doctor is so busy - I have been able to bring my appointment forward from October to August but as I am having a particularly bad time at present and needing to see a Nurse every three months my life has been put on hold. My Doctor is being as helpful as they can by coping with my anxiety, which is being exacerbated by this matter. I feel the hospital has not organised this particularly well as it is not like having a new hip, broken leg etc. and they knew for several months that the nurse was leaving. Mr Doctor is faxing my Consultant to see if anything can be done and PALS at Colchester Hospital are speaking to people for me. Parkinson 's helpline have also been fantastic but cannot medicate as they do not have my history. It is an impossible situation. Should I move to Chelmsford - do they have more staff. This is a classic case of money being spent wrongly - in the wrong areas and to the wrong people.

I apologise you’ve not had a good patient experience. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. We would like the opportunity to discuss your experiences more fully and to apologise in person. If you are willing I would appreciate it if I could ask the matron to contact you. Could you email me, using the reference “Comment on Neurology 24/04/2015 08:33:35 ”, please? Many thanks Paul Searle, Head of Communications Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
