About: Royal Sussex County Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

my experience last week for an ablation exceeded my previous 2 admissions for this procedure.this may have been because i knew where i was going and what would happen. i also had nurses caring for me who had also been there the last 2 times. The catheter lab staff were excellent and tried to put me at my ease each time as i was extremely nervous. Many thanks to all staff that took care of my needs, from support staff, nurses, radiologists, and consultants.

You are a credit to yourselves and the hospital.THANKYOU for all your hard work and dedication to your professions.

What could be improved

As i am sure others have commented, the parking is a problem but how this can be resolved i don't know.

My 2 previous admisssions i was taken back after my procedure to a mixed sex ward which i felt uncomfortable with. Coming round after sedation with an 80 year old man waving at me when i am only wearing a hospital gown was not acceptable and certain members of staff were not sensitive to this in making sure the curtain was closed when looking at my wound. I was fortunate to be put in a single room on my 3rd admission. My past experince of hospitals(in Portsmouth where i live) although mixed sex wards they were not mixed sex bays, which is acceptable. Please consider this for the future.Bring back single sex wards, as in hospital you feel very vunerable, and scared especially when wearing those awful gowns.

Anything else?

I was impressed with the food and as i cannot eat wheat they tried to cater for my needs. I was impressed with the discharge lounge very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble and as i had to wait to be collected by my husband i had a long wait as we live in portsmouth,i was very surprised to be offered a cooked meal there whilst waiting.THANKYOU EVERYONE.
