"A lovely welcoming environment"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

I hope I can put in writing my experience today, I'll try. I only visited the hospital to have some bloods taken. When I entered through the revolving doors I was greeted by a feeling of walking into a small community. A friendly place that felt busy but calm. It wasn't like walking into a hospital ( and I've been to a few!). There were meet and greet volunteers who kindly give up their time but are always happy to help. There were places you could eat or purchase food stuffs. A little something for everyone. It looked clean and fresh, light and airy. I feel all too often we are happy to complain & moan. Why shouldn't we take the time when we have a lovely positive experience, to share that news too. Although my only critisiism is the lack of car spaces. The hospital itself offers a pleasant experience on the arrival in the main entrance. Well Done to all involved in making the Royal Derby a great place to go even at what can be a most trying and difficult time.

Response from Royal Derby Hospital

Dear Helen Many thanks for providing us with your lovely comments regarding your recent visit to our Hospital for a Blood test. We were very pleased to hear that you felt our hospital on entry, was welcoming and with a nice atmosphere and environment. We will certainly share this feedback with our staff. However, regarding your comment relating to lack of adequate car parking spaces - we do appreciate that at times this can be problematic for some of our visitors. We are constantly looking at ways to try and improve this issue, but despite having a very frequent and regular bus service, with limited ground space available at our site, unfortunately at peak times, we know this can still be difficult for some of our visitors travelling by car, particularly at peak times. Once again, many thanks for taking the time to provide us with your important feedback and may we take the opportunity of wishing you very best wishes for the future. KInd regards The Patient Experience Team for Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
