I was referred this tuesday by an ENT doctor at Essex county hospital,They advised me i needed to go into the general hospital this week as the time frame for doing the procedure i need was running out.I am suffering from huge anxiety issues about this pending procedure. Having waited anxiously and had no phone call from the hospital and today being thursday i plucked up the courage and anxiously called the hospital, only to be told that i wasnt on the theatre list for tomorrow so need to call the secretary of the dr that referred me,Obviously it isnt going to happen this week now.I already have an mri scan early saturday morning so was stressing about having day surgery the day before, now ive no idea when this is being done..I am aware the hospital is trying to improve its care and facilities but sadly my anxiety about this pending visit isnt unfounded. In 2013 i was brutally attacked, after three useless visits to my gp who didnt examine me my carer (i am disabled) took me to a and e.I was treated appallingly,i was seen fairly promptly and asked for a water sample which was almost impossible to do but i did my best.I was questioned by the nurse who wasnt sympathetic, they did say they would contact gynae team and surgeons and treat me accordingly after i explained my dr hadnt examined me.I had police incident number and names of the special victims unit which i showed the person, they left me and returned informing me they had contacted the police and my gp,i was told that i would be uncomfortable and told to go home,i was too upset and shocked to do anything but leave the hospital. My carer was dumbfounded but i was in tears and asked them to take me home i was in a lot of pain.i spent more time at home suffering until my neighbour called my surgery demanding somebody acted as i was very poorly,a dr arrived and said i clearly needed to go to hospital to be examined and they didnt want to send me to colchester, they tried desperately to get me seen at harwich but after many calls they said they were so sorry but i would have to go to colchester .they sent me with a .letter to aeu department underlining that i had been turned away without treatment,.I was finally seen by a team who treated me as a human being who had suffered an horrific three weeks,i was examined and there was evidence of what had happened to me,i was asked to return next morning to see a surgeon as the nurse or dr wanted their opinion,I returned and without going into detail was treated but not sympathetically.Nearly two years later i am still traumatized by what happened to me so much so i have only just been able to talk about my lack of treatment. The procedure i was meant to have this week is only minor but any visit to the hospital would cause me anxiety.I hope that the hospital is improving, sadly women who find themselves in the situation i did do not complain purely because they are traumatized to begin with therefore do not follow through and complain as mentally they are not in a good place
