"Mothers CT Scan"

About: King George Hospital

My mother who has recently recovered from Breast Cancer had an appointment for a CT scan at the X-RAY dept. She informed me of the ill treatment she received from the nurse who was constantly stabbing needles into my mother hand and arms trying to locate a vein. My mother constantly informed the nurse that what she was doing was hurting as she was using force, the nurse did not take any notice. Very rude and awful service. I took my mother this week to see her cancer consultant at Queens Hospital ( Which has far better service & facilities) who informed us that the procedure King George hospital took was not fully complete. The consultant has written a letter of complaint to the hospital and has had to re-book another urgent appoint this time at Queens hospital. Not happy at all regarding this as my mother has been through a lot in her life and we do not expect this kind of service at all. I will be writing to the Hospital myself and am considering going to the press regarding this.

I’m very concerned to hear about your mother’s experience and would like to look into this further. Thank you for taking the time to raise this with us. I’m pleased that she had a better experience in our Oncology department. Please contact me through our PALS Team with more information on 01708 435 454 or email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk. Yours sincerely Wendy Matthews Interim Chief Nurse
