What I liked
I have had 4 hip surgeries at the Nuffield, and am about to enter for my 5th next week. I have no hesitation in entrusting my care to the hospital. My Surgeon is excellent, and I have seen them consistently for the 6 or more years that I have been a patient here. I believe the Surgical Skill to be second to none, and would not dream of going anywhere else. My next surgery will be to remove my hip entirely, a procedure that I have had to consider long and hard, but I believe the support and discussion with my Consultant to have helped me to make a very difficult desicion.
At all times patients are treated with dignity and respect (Respect being a two way street, , I would like to remind patients that they too need to treat nursing staff politely and respectfully, despite pain and frustration they may be feeling)
What could be improved
Communication and Bureacracy have tended to let the reputation of this excellent institution down. I too have had cancelled appointments, lost paperwork, lost or missing records etc, or have been frustrated at being kept hanging around.... but the hospital is dealing with many people, in many different circumstances, and is, I believe, doing its best for everyone in trying times.
Anything else?
My case was not straight forward, and I believe that this hospital is the best to cope with my situation. I do, however, also believe that it is excellent for a straight forward operation too. Lovely new building, modern facilities... what else do people want?
