About: Manor Hospital

My sister went to A&E last week unable to breathe. Eventually after many hours it was decided she had a suspected blood clot and pneumonia and they were admitting her to a ward. Hours later when they had staff free to admit her she was taken to a ward. She received antibiotics, was put on the nebuliser and given warfarin. She was told she’d need a CT scan. It was booked and when she was called the nurse couldn’t get the cannula in after several attempts. By this point, they’d missed the slot and were told it would be re-booked. Consultant came round saying she was fat and that was the issue and it was just a chest infection and discharged her! The nurses said they weren’t happy but had to do what they were told. Less than a week later she was rushed back in via ambulance, told she should have never been discharged and was given antibiotics and put on the nebuliser again. Again, told she needed a CT scan. The following day still not been admitted to a ward or given a bed, just on a trolley, Finally bought to a ward for an hour, only to be told she needed to sit and wait for a CT scan elsewhere. 8 hours later – still no further?! Bunch of incompetent idiots! I call to try and find out what is going on, after 12 attempts of getting through to the switchboard someone finally answers. Get put through to the ward and it just rings and rings, 12 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes. Decided to phone one last time – 25 minutes! The nurse who finally spoke to me was so rude and basically called me a liar stating they always answer the phone, it would never ring for so long, I have my phone log to prove it! This nurse was tutting, huffing and puffing and just unkind. When your loved one is ill and you want to find out what’s going on your don’t expect this. Totally unacceptable and not professional at all. The nurse complained they were short staffed and overworked etc, not my problem, these things happen, deal with it! I would not recommend this place to anyone, they’d probably leave you in a side room and forget about you! My sister also has a brain aneurism and other medical conditions and should not be left alone for so long. PALS not very good either, left answerphone message at 7am this morning, still not call back by 1.30pm so I called them. Pleasant enough on the phone but still not good enough. Avoid
