"I was kicked out at 2am with a sick baby"
About: Wexham Park Hospital Wexham Park Hospital SL2 4HL
Was brought in by ambulance with my 14 month old baby as she had a very high fever, severe vomiting and diarrhea. Was put in A and E for 90 mins waiting for a decision. Then transfered to the children's ward where the pediatrician finally came to assess her at 12am. The doctor didn't manage to shed much light on what was really wrong with her. We were the only ones on that side of the ward in our own room. Was left to monitor her myself, had to ask for calpol and for them to check her temperature. She finally went to sleep at 1am and so did I only to be woken by the pediatrician and a nurse at 1.45am telling us we should go home as my baby was now not vomiting. She still had a temperature of 38.8 but they obviously wanted an easy night shift so we were kicked out being told that my baby would be happier in her own bed. She would have been happier getting some sleep and not having to go out into the freezing night at 2.15am. I mentioned we were brought in by ambulance and it would be difficult to get someone at 2am to pick us up. But the nurse and doctor suddenly became deaf. So i gathered our things in less than a minute and had to sit in the freezing cold corridors waiting for my elderly father to pick us up. Absolutely disgraceful. What is the point of a children's ward if you don't actually care about the sick children and are more interested in an easy night shift? Will never be going back there. Ever. My advice to others would be go to any hospital but this one.
