"87 year old father in A&E on a bank holiday."

About: Darent Valley Hospital

I would like to register my thanks and admiration for the wonderful staff working in A&E at Darent Valley Hospital on the afternoon and evening of Easter Monday 6th April 2015. My 87 year old Father was admitted with acute dehydration and a chest infection by ambulance. The ambulance crew were extremely professional and caring and made a point of making notes to record my Dad as the sole carer for my Mum who has dementia. The A&E area was immaculately clean and the medical staff were caring and attentive. I am sure there must lots of politics at play in all parts of the HHS but I was struck by the genuine caring and humanitarian attitude of all staff we dealt with. The discharge nursing sister deserves special thanks for putting together a comprehensive home care plan together with a member of staff in hospital social services. This was all done with patience and good humour on a busy bank holiday despite my Dad's endless moaning and complaining. All staff were all brilliant and their care and attention was very much appreciated by our family.

Dear Stuart Thank you for this glowing review of our A&E Department which has been passed onto the staff involved in your father's care. We do hope that he is feeling much better and that the home care plan is working well. Best wishes The Communication Department Darent Valley Hospital
