About: Medway Maritime Hospital

I broke my clavicle nearly a week ago and an ambulance took me to A&E, the paramedics were excellent but as soon as I got to Medway Maritime hospital that's where it all went wrong. Had to wait for a while before I was seen which is understandable sometimes. The team that got me on to a trolley and the Radiologist were great but the attitude of the Doctors I saw after that was disdainful to say the least. The conversations just seemed designed to fob me off and get me out of there asap. I was told that they would contact me to arrange an appointment in the fracture clinic for a week later. It's a week tomorrow and haven't heard anything so phoned. I have just been told that I should have been given a pink slip with all the contact information on it, and could have phoned 48 hours after going to A&E, but because I wasn't given a slip I have now got to wait another 5 days! I am in agony every day with a double fracture and really need an appointment to make a decision about what to do and now I am being left to get on with it again. Cared for? No I don't think so!

I am sorry that you had a negative experience at our A&E department. Unfortunately without any patient specific details I am unable to investigate this further. However, if you would like to contact me, I'd be more than happy to do so. Kind regards, Katy White Head of Governance and Risk Telephone - 01634 830000 ex 6683
