What could be improved
Hospital Gowns
The hospital gown is not a dignified form of apparel at the best of times but please please please could a more dignified solution than the use of a second hospital gown worn as a cape over the rear opening gown be found for patients who have to walk for physiotherapy etc but are unable to wear pyjamas/nightdresses and dressing gowns because of the tubes and assorted paraphenalia attached.
I found it particularly heartbreaking last year to walk along the hospital corridor with my terminally ill husband, with much of his upper legs exposed from behind accompanied by a drip stand and catheter bag . When on the ward he was only able to wear the gown over one shoulder because of the attachments and that was bad enough for him. In this day and age it should be possible to source gowns with for example velcro sleeve sections to enable access for tubes etc. Something so simple would make such a huge difference.
With the current campaign for dignity and privacy in hospitals I feel it is a matter that should be seriously addressed.
I'm sure it would make a huge difference to the morale of patients who are unable to wear their own clothes to at least be adequately covered in a dignified manner
