"Avoid - another terrible experience here for our..."

My beautiful elderly and frail mum was sent here by emergency ambulance by her GP who was concerned at her breathing following a chest infection . She was 88 she got there at 4pm on Tuesday 14th April and I got there from work at 5pm she was waiting in the corridor they told me . She was in hospital in Jan after a fall and it was exactly the same dreadful state of affairs all ambulances queued up and people in hallways and A&E full. I wasnt allowed to be with her I had to beg a kind ambulance person to see if she was in the hall so they could tell her I was here. I knew she would be frightened. Thsi is archaic treatment of sick fragile people. If she was a child it would be so much different. But not so bad this time the ambulance person said she was next in line well that could mean n hour ... indeed it did ... she was taken into one of the bays at 6:30pm. Only2.5hrs in a wheelchair. So was given none of the antibiotics that she was on and would have been due no food etc etc. We were seen then by a HCA and blood was taken quickly and efficiently by a phlaebotomist this was excellent as she is normally hard to bleed. She kept asking when is the doctor coming and getting more agitated by the minute. Well the invisible doctor must have admitted her as at 9:30pm i.e 3hrs later - two HCAs came along and took her to the Assessment Unit. So we guessed she would be staying she asked when the Dr would be coming they said someone would come at some point but it could even be the morning. A lovely caring nurse on the next shift said there would be a Dr but it could be very late. So torn by what to do I decided it was best to go home with my husband and child who had come to pick me up as it was getting very late for her to be up. Mum seemed safe and in good hands with this nurse. Next day Wed I visited and spent 3 hrs there at mums bed. A nurse kindly brought me up to speed explaining she was on IV antibiotics and responding well to a nebuliser to help her breathing and on oxygen to improve her 02 levels. She was awake compus mentus but very frail, she got out to the toilet with alot of help. She told the nurse I have pneumonia you know. I said have you I didnt think so the nurse didnt mention. So I called the nurse over when they were passing to ask if it was true . Yes they looked at their notes - indeed it was- didnt they think that was important information to tell me? Cleraly not but there were no doctors looking to speak to me and she seemed ok, overall noone gave me cause to worry. Staff are caring and good but doctors invisible and Broomfield is clearly very understaffed with them. This hospital is failing rapidly and needs desperate help in A&E.
