"Gall bladder removal"

I was booked in for my op today for my gallbladder to be removed. I arrived a tau at 6.50 am I was given tissues as I was struggling to tell the member of staff on reception my name and date of birth, and I said I was nervous and frightened. I was then told to sit in waiting area. Around 7:30 I was called into a small room where I was asked to go through all the checks and so on, I told the nurse yet again that I was frightened and nervous and feeling unsettled. The nurse than said will have to do a blood test, which I had done Monday 13.4.15. I told the nurse this and I also explained that I was no good with needles. Off I went with my gown slippers and dressing gown on be to the waiting area. 60 minutes later I was called back in to see the anaesthetist, who told me how they would put me to sleep and how the breathing tube could give me a sore throat. The anaesthetist told me I could have some emla cream to numb the back of my hands. Yet again I told the member of staff about how I felt and was told they would see me later. Next I seen my surgeon who was not the surgeon I was expecting. I was told the surgeon I was expecting had retired 2 week ago. I told this surgeon how I felt with the op but they went through my notes and said will see you in theatre (I didn't think they were saying it literally). Back in wating room for ten min then the nurse brought me the cream. 1st nurse said it would be on a hour and last 6 hours. 2nd nurse said it would be on 45 min and last 4 hours. So it's on now back to waiting room. I sat there 1 hour 15 min before some one came to take it off. Got to around 11 am and I was called by a member of staff in scrubs to take me round to theatre. Walking round, which I didn't expect to do, the member of staff asked if I was ok. I said no and told them why. When we walked through the doors to the theatre I started shaking - breathing fast and heavy. I've never been in such a terrifying place in all my life. It was cold windy dark gloomy and staff what was hanging around. I asked to use the bathroom, and was walked round to day surgery. On the way back I was shown into anaesthetic room where I was told by the member of staff and anaesthetist to unfasten my hospital gown and remove my dressing gown. At that point some other member of staff walked through the door, and I freaked, panicked, and told them I can't do it and had to leave. I got my dressing gown and walked as fast as I could out over there back to tau for my things. One back on tau while I'm crying, shaking and panicking the anaesthetist came to talk to me, asking me what was wrong and if I would go back round. I told the anaesthetist no, I just want to go home to which they said ok and asked what made me like that. I explained why. Then was told if they knew I was scared and frightened they could have put a plan in place where I would have been 1st one in theatre not the last. That I would have been sedated in the recovery room then taken to theatre, and not made to walk down and also that some one could have been with me. Too little, too late as by now as I was petrified of the place.
