"Friendly nurses"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

Friendly nurses

What could be improved

I have been visiting an elderly relative who has suffered a stroke over the Bank Holiday, can not beleive that everything took so long. CT scan the day AFTER they were admitted, the results the day AFTER that. What happened to FAST treatment for a stroke!

The ward they are now on Mary is awfully old and outdated, nurses are friendy and try their hardest but not enough of them to provide the care for individuals (especially ensuring patients are eating). There is nothing to stimulate the patients who are able to move around and are still fairly coherant (no TV's or radio's) patients are required to just sit next to their bed. This would drive the best of us insane.

Doctors didn't take the time to find out what the patient was like before the stroke assuming that they weren't 100% coherant beforehand!

I would love for my relative to be moved to a different hospital (enquiries have been made but seems unlikely).

My local NHS hospital is like a 5 star hotel in comparison. How can some get it so right and some get it so wrong.

I am really worried about the future of my relative in this hospital!
