"Superb service from all staff, and Ward 12 in..."

I am the carer for my mother who suffers from severe dementia, and on 29 Nov 2014, after collapsing at home, she was admitted to the James Paget. After a few days in the EADU she was moved to Ward 12. She remained there until she was discharged on the 27 March 2015 to go to into a care home. The deterioration in her health meant that it was not possible to look after her at home again, and it was a difficult time for us in many ways. What made it more tolerable was that absolutely everybody that we came into contact with at the James Paget was superb. From front line medical care to the issuing of concessionary parking tickets, every member of staff did their job with competence and with a smile. The only negative point - totally outside the control of the James Paget - was the unacceptable service from the Anglia NHS CHC / CCG. This not only caused me an enormous amount of stress and worry, but put a quite unnecessary burden on the long suffering hospital staff who had to deal with it. Let me conclude by saying this. All the wonderful staff and volunteers I met … these people are the reason why people like me love the NHS, will fight to defend the NHS, and will continue to do so.
