My child was eventually admitted for two weeks for chronic constipation by paediatrics. The treatment he recieved was awful. The only soulution was left to me and mum to supervise him night and day and pump him full of laxatives until he soiled himself to the point he was clear. After my child has been suffering with this problem for over 6 years and almost 8yrs old, no attempt was made to test for any underlying health issues or allergies. I actually had to beg for a mere x-ray to which the results were not clearly explained. There was no regard to his emotional or pschological state or was any effort made to understand or treat his condition in the long term apart from "just keep doing what you are doing". No follow on treatment was offered and Me and mum were not listened to and treated like we were neurotic parents and constantly told "it will be alright as he gets older". We now have to start the whole process again, going through GPs and CAHMS. My child has been left very distressed by the whole episode and has compounded his misery further. My child has gone from a happy child to a withdrawn, confused distressed child and me and mum are still not being listened to.
