"3hrs from drop in appointment to surgery"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital

I recently underwent emergency surgery on a hernia. I rang 111 and was given an appointment at 4pm, after attending the appointment I was quickly referred for surgical review at which point it was decided I needed surgery with 24 hrs. All examinations were professional and thorough. I was lucky it was a bank holiday and theatre was quiet so I was given the all clear for immediate surgery. It was around 7pm that I went into theatre. I was very impressed! The doctor, surgeon and junior doctor on the surgical review ward were fantastic, explained everything but also remained empathetic and their humour allowed me to remain relaxed through the short period I had to get my head around surgery. Thank you to all involved. The surgeon was brilliant.
