"A very mixed bag at The Hesketh Centre"

About: Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust / Early intervention

(as the patient),

There were positives and negatives to the early interventions service at the Hesketh centre though I have to say, out of the two mental health trusts I have been a service user of, this was the slightly better one of the two. Staff do seem, on the whole, well meaning but there is a lack of mediation between one department to another, paperwork seems to take forever and a day to be passed from one person to another, staff seem to vanish off the face of the earth at times etc... It has its faults but wouldn't in my opinion be the worst experience I've had with mental health services.

Thank you for your comments about the early intervention team at Southport.

Your comments have been shared with team manager and the team and they have used these to look at how they can improve the service provided. They have recognized that it can sometimes be difficult to access care coordinators and have suggested that care plans include an alternative contact be identified in their absence.

To expedite information sharing or transfer the service will ensure the most efficient use of systems and technology to minimise any delays.

If you would like to discuss this matter in more detail please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), 0800 328 2941, pals@merseycare.nhs.uk or

Thank you for your response Kim,

Yes, it was standard procedure back then to be provided with a "deputy" of sorts when ones proper care coordinator was unavailable also. Of course it's better than nothing but still doesn't truly solve the issue in my personal opinion. The care coordinator roles really seem to be a little too flexible actually, to the point where it might be beneficial to staff but probably costs the patients. I don't require any further discussions with the trust, though thank you again for the acknowledgement of my comments.

Kind regards.
