"Colonoscopy"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

I attended the Endoscopy Department am 10th March 2015, for a Colonoscopy. Now, I suppose that it would be considered inappropriate to describe my visit as "Most enjoyable", but the fact remains, it was! The department functioned so efficiently, from arrival (reception), to leaving. All members of staff that I had contact with, were so pleasant, and caring. The overall ambiance was feel good, to such extent that any apprehensive patient would be re-assured. I must take this opportunity to express special thank you's to my dedicated nurse. Also Dthe consultant and their assistants that I omitted to thank, due to the fact that I had fallen deeply asleep, and was out of it. Which also deprived me of the consultant's guided tour of my internals. No worries! Best Wishes to you all, Jack

Dear ‘Jacorwd’ Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of our Endoscopy Department and I am pleased to hear that you found it to be a ‘most enjoyable’ experience. The department pride themselves on offering a warm welcome to all arriving patients as they know how apprehensive some patients can be about having an invasive procedure. Providing as much information as requested by the patient and a calm, relaxed environment from staff who care about each patient helps to give that ‘feel good’ factor and a good sedative helps with any remaining nerves. Please know that comments such as yours go a long way towards reassuring patients who are anxious or apprehensive about their treatment so thank you again for sharing. I will be sure to pass on your comments to all the team including the consultants as I know they like to hear comments from the patients they treat. I hope the results from your examination are good and wish you a speedy recovery Regards Sue Mellor Head of Patient Engagement
