"The nursing staff were very very ..."

About: Wycombe Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The nursing staff were very very good and showed great patience and care with myself and the patients that surrounded me. In the small room that I was in (as part of ward 12a), the patients were very demanding and one had an embarressing accident in his bed during the night but the way in which the night staff treated him was respectful, caring, uncomplaining and understanding which was really good to see - the patient was not the easiest to deal with but he was still treated very well indeed. In addition one of the patients was clearly struggling with his inability to see (and maybe early stages of dementia?) and was forever talking and calling out but one of the nurses went out of their way and bought him a bar of chocolate that he was craving for and bought it out of her own money - she did not have to do that and did not make a big issue about it, she just did it - really caring and great to see.

Finally, the quality of the food and the options offered was very very good, the staff who served it up could not do enough for you - a real joy.

What could be improved

I was only in for two days so did not see anything that could be improved.

Anything else?

Given that I was taken there by ambulance from Stoke Mandeville suffering from renal colic this was a pleasant experience for me - my first time at the hospital and I would certainly say that I was treated very well indeed especially by the nursing staff who were all excellent and who have my total respect for the way they had to deal with those around me.
