What I liked

My experience as a patient in Wycombe hopsital was an excellent one. I was very aprenhensive about coming in to have my full hip replacement, and didn`t have a good feeling about Wycombe hospital atall.

I cannot praise the nusing staff enough, they were overstreched most of the l days I was being cared for and nothing was too much for them, they were kind and helpful and even when their work load was interrupted by a trivial matter they would be caring and professional.

I was in awe of some of the staff, who made me feel welcome and in no way a nuisance at any time. I would love to name several nursing staff on ward 12B who cared for me because they are an accet to Wycombe hospital, sometimes I don`t think their never ending kindness and care is given the recognition that they all deserve. I think leadership, meaning the wonderful sister in charge should take most of the credit for having trained and given her nursing staff such high standards. Brilliant.

What could be improved

Improvements for me would be the time it takes for the alarm call buzzer that you have on your bed so that the nurse can come to your rescue, this did take too long at times, a lady in the bed opposite pressed hers one night and it took a whole hour for a response that is not good enough by any standards!

Unfortunately I had to use a bed pan one night and had to use the buzzer so that I could be helped off the pan, but had to wait at least 20 mins before a nurse came to my rescue ( not good or very comfortalble when you have just had a full hip replacement I can tell you!).

Anything else?

I stayed over weekend and my only disapointment was one night when night staff who I had not seen before were on duty, it was like I was in a different hospital, the less said about them the better, one word APALLING!

Food was great the whole stay.
