"Waiting Time Once You Get An Appointment"

About: New Cross Hospital

I attended the eye infirmary department after receiving my appointment for 3-15pm on 9th April 2015, at 5-45pm I had still not been seen by the doctor. The waiting area filled up several times and emptied equally during that period everyone that came in after me all left before me in and in the end their was no one else left to see except me however I waited patiently and eventually I was seen by the doctor who in turn had to call another specialist doctor for confirmation of the diagnosis. I had no idea I would be held waiting for that long with no real explanation as to why the delays or what had caused them and yet their were five doctors in practice. When Wolverhampton had its own separate eye hospital I am fairly sure it was never run like this. Clearly trying to make an all in one super hospital is not working when you are taking on more patients from a far afield as Stafford (as one patient remarked he had come from) and not enough time to deal with them. Would I have been waiting that long if I had paid privately? I am very grateful of the NHS and the staff working in them but Management need to find out why these delays are deemed acceptable.
