"Admission to A&E24.03.2015 following a treadmill..."

About: East Surrey Hospital

The admission process was quick with little waiting and was very thorough with all the examinations I would expect. I was well looked after and kept informed at all times. I entered A&E at about 8pm and by 11pm I was in bed in the AMU (acute medical unit). The procedure was quick, efficient and I was treated with care and consideration throughout. I was moved to Holmwood ward and given an angiogram and, ultimately, on the 31st, fitted with two stents. I was discharged on the following day. I have nothing but praise for the medical and personal attention I received throughout. The doctors took the time to explain, in terms that I could understand, what was happening and guided me through the information to help me make a choice about my treatment. The technical skill that I received in the angio unit I thought was of the highest quality and I could not have wished for better and it was delivered by such nice and caring people.. The quality of the nursing staff was superb and it was interesting to see a multi-national team working so well together. All in all, it was an eye opener for me showing me the highest level of compassionate professionalism. that my local hospital can provide. I know the NHS and the East Surrey Hospital has come in for a deal of hard criticism. I hope that this reference will go a little way to correcting the balance. It was a real demonstration of what the NHS can do when the need is there and I will be forever in debt to a number of people in the East Surrey team.

Dear Howard Malleson,

Thank you for your posting about your recent stay in the cardiology ward at East Surrey Hospital. It is always good to read that someone felt so well looked after and cared about.

Your comment about the multi-national nature of the angio team particularly chimed with me and is one of the really great things about the NHS - how people from such different backgrounds can come together for the purpose of providing outstanding care and treatment - we are very lucky to have so many great colleagues who want to work with us.

Kind regards

Ian
