"From telephone call to Out of ..."

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

From telephone call to Out of Hours Harmoni through A&E to Surgery Emergency to Ward 9. All staff treated me with absolute care, respect and attention to ensure I was not only comfortable but that any concerns I had were understood and dealt with - both doctors and nurses alike made sure I understood that they would come back to me for update and they did -never let me down. I was not left waiting on my own for any length of time. I cannot thank them enough for bringing me through one of the most frightnening episodes of my life. Ward 9 cared for me excellently all nurses, and supprting staff worked together and from being really worried about having to go to Stoke I knew I was in the best hands. On leaving hospital the procedures for home recovery and return to hospital whn appropriate were all explained fully and in my own understanding. Well done to Stoke Mandeville and the NHS I cannot understand why more of the good reports aren't publicised you hear so much of the few disappointments but nothing of the good work these people are doing for us in our NHS - unstinting

What could be improved

I didn't feel that any improvement was needed. Teamwork seemed to be the key to everything running smoothly -it felt like the "Matron" was back. The teamwork extended to watching the work between the departments -because although I was under the surgey team the bed found for me was in Gyni and I didn't feel that I was in the wrong place.

Anything else?

Cleanliness in the hospital is excellent and it meant taht patients themselves took more care as well or so it seems -having had hospital care some years ago.
