"I have been attending the hospital ..."

About: Weston General Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

I have been attending the hospital as a companion for a long period and for the last nine months have been treated as non existant for all of this time. The information that has been received from the non-medical staff has been completely useless and each new piece seems to conflict the last piece. On some occassions have been expected to know some of the proceedures without even being advised. During all this time have with no dignity or respect or consideration. Whilst I realise that the degree of involvement is subject to the agreement of the patient and patient confidentiality surely speaking to the companion is just the first step

What could be improved

Treat the companions with dignity, respect and consideration and above all talk to them. Ask the patients if they would like someone to be with them.

Anything else?

I feel very strongly about this and would not feel able to use the hospital except in an emergency as I could not accept the treatment and consideration experienced by me to be expienced by someone that I cared about.
