"Excellent and efficient"

I was admitted for day surgery at Elmstead ward, Colchester General Hospital. The efficient running of the ward was amazing to see. From Anesthetist to HCAs, all staff worked effectively together running an efficient day ward. I was prepared for surgery in a timely manner and my nerves were put at ease (as much as possible) by the kind Anesthetist Tamas. The clear communication between staff and patients meant that I felt well informed throughout the process, from pre-op through to recovery. I was required to stay overnight to ensure that I was fit to go home. The ward staff even took the time to ensure that the catering department were aware of my nutritional requirements and they even prepared a special salad for me before I was transferred to another ward for my overnight stay.

You read a lot of bad publicity about Colchester Hospital in the local press, but I really wanted to emphasize that the staff are working hard, providing excellent care to 100s of patients every day and I feel lucky to have been one of them.
