"I had my baby at Musgrove Park. ..."

About: Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I had my baby at Musgrove Park. I stayed at Bracken ward, and then Willow ward.

The staff really made an exceptional effort to make sure my baby and I were well cared for.

During delivery, I was well informed and although things didnt go to plan, and ended with an emergency cesarean, I was entirely happy with procedures carried out. Staff were incredible in their approach to paitent care, and my husband was also kept well informed.

I was well supported, particularly with breast feeding, and felt totally at home. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was brilliant, and I could have happily stayed longer.

What could be improved

The condition of the ward (peeling paint) let it down, but if this came at the cost of patient care, then it would be an easy choice to make.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your comments. The Head of Midwifery really appreciated your thoughts and will make sure that the staff on Bracken and Willow hear your views. You are right that the fabric of the maternity building is in need of both updating and decorating. This is being managed as part of our modernisation programme and is scheduled to commence early in 2010. Thank you again for the comments.
