"Pain Management Injection."

About: Burnley General Hospital

My appointment:- 17th Feb 2015 @ 09:50h After my appointment with a pain management consultant I expected to be given an appointment for a spinal pain-killing injection. I was told I would have an appointment soon. Since then I have had one phone contact telling me that there is no definite time when I might receive this treatment. The appointment dept. told me nothing is available since the consultant, whose name I wasn't even given, has left. I have neither got, nor received, one piece of paper with any information regarding the time scale for this treatment. I’m beginning to think I dreamt the whole thing. My wife is receiving pain management advice and treatment on a regular basis with a consultant who works in the same department. Their experience has been first class and well-managed. Have I misunderstood the system or information I have received to date? Joseph Alan Taylor

Dear Mr Taylor Many thanks for your feedback on your experience of our Physiotherapy service at Burnley General Hospital, and thank-you for taking the time to do so. I must apologise for the lateness of this response however I had sent one on the 7th April which NHS Choices had not registered. I have passed on your concerns to the teams mentioned i.e. the pain team and the physio department. I am very sorry to hear that you have not received a similar level of care and support as your wife seems to have and would urge if you are able to for you to get in touch with me so that I can try to get to the bottom of this for you? My details are below.. Also, if you would like to talk through your visit to us with one of our Patient Experience team so we can understand the bits of your experience that could be improved please could you contact me (Wendy Stobbs) on 01254 734471 or email me on wendy.stobbs@elht.nhs.uk. Or if you would like to share your experience in confidence with an independent organisation please contact Healthwatch BwD on 01254 504985 or info@healthwatchblackburnwithdarwen.co.uk Many thanks again for commenting and best wishes on your recovery Wendy Stobbs, Senior Patient Experience Facilitator
