"Wonderful care at a very difficult time"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

My Mum spent a week in Ward 3, Cardiology ending sadly in her death. The care she received could not have been better. My father, brother and myself were kept informed at all times. When mum was coming to the end we were made to feel very welcome and spent a night in the Oasis Suite, provided with sandwiches and allowed to visit mum at any time. I can not say thank you enough for allowing mum to end her life with dignaty and care.

Response from Wansbeck Hospital

Dear Sir / Madam, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mum. Please accept our sincere condolences at this very sad time. It is extremely thoughtful of you to give us any feedback at all, given all you must be going through. Your note and the care you describe reminds me why it is so important to pay attention to patient experience - sometimes the outcome is nothing liked we hoped for and yet the care is everything we needed ? I am so glad that we looked after all your needs well as a family. I am also pleased that you felt confident that your Mum ended her life as she deserved to, with dignity and respect. The team on ward 3 will remember you and they will find a great deal of comfort in your kind words. It is our absolute privilege in healthcare to share such crucial moments in the lives of our patients and families. It means everything to us to know that we got this care right. Thank you. The oasis is a special place isn't it ? Designed solely to comfort families and individuals who are facing bereavement . I am glad it provided you with some important rest and a place to gather as family just when you needed it. Take good care of yourself and do please let us know if there is anything that we can help you with, Annie
