"Very Impressed with treatement and courtesy"

I attended A&E twice on the 4th April with foreign matter in my eye. On the first occasion I was seen very quickly by Triage, and after a further short wait by a nurse and taken to the eye treatment room. The nurse could not have been kinder, sympathetic and more thorough if they had tried, My eyes had been watering and whilst drying them some tissue had stuck to my eye and disintegrated into several bits and she spent a lot of time examining my eye for any more tissue as well as for any damage that may have occurred. I was sent home with Antibiotic cream in less than 90 minutes from arriving. I have COPD and as I was very SOB when we got to the treatment room the nurse arranged for a porter to take me to the door for me to get a taxi home. The nurse treated me in an exemplary manner and should be very proud of her standard of care. About 2 hours after arriving home it became obvious that there was still something in my eye so I set off back to the hospital . Its sad to say that this time I had to wait a lot longer to see Triage. For over 20 minutes no one was seen by triage, and at this time there was only the one triage nurse was chatting to a member of the ambulance staff, on what was obviously a social call. I was finally seen by triage and told to wait in the appropriate area. Here the wait was much much longer than on my previous visit, being well over 2 hours. Again there was a long period when none of the many people waiting were called in for treatment. I was finally seen by a different nurse from my earlier visit who chatted to me in one of the treatment rooms before getting a wheel chair and taking me down to the eye treatment room they removed a large amount of matter which had built up and all the time was kind and considerate and was keeping pain at the minimum. They found and treated a pustule which wasnt there before and as it was about to burst so it was removed and instantly my eye became much more comfortable. After checking again they gave me antibiotic drops, told me they were referring me to the eye clinic and took me in the wheelchair to reception and arranged a taxi and for a member of security to take me to it once it arrived. Yet again the Nurse was exemplary in their care and like the previous nurse should be very proud of their care and commitment. It is a shame that there was such a wait, especially when it seemed that social chats were stopping any movement of patients
