"Saved my life for a second time."

About: Hammersmith Hospital

I was admitted to Hammersmith and had a lobe of my lung removed on 25 March. I had had the same operation for cancer on the other lung 3 years earlier and requested the same surgeon. The staff had been brilliant last time so I was not surprised that they were all so caring and aware that patients feel vulnerable. I had my Op and was cared for on the High Dependency Unit where the nurses and sisters can't do enough for you. They are manically busy but still find time to check you are comfy and make that all important cup of tea. 3 days later I was transferred back onto the ward where the care carried on. The nursing staff are so busy and are clearly stretched but they are doing 12 hour shifts and can't have much of a life outside there work. I was in for 7 days and am now home and feeling a lot better, still waiting to hear if the Cancer has completely gone but I have to say A big thank you to everyone at Hammersmith, you have given me another chance at life.
