"Unbelievably good staff"

About: Goole & District Hospital (Acute)

This review is a viewpoint from a visitor to the hospital (my mother was taken ill and transferred to Goole - ward 3 late March 2015). Because of the distance of the hospital to my home (220+ miles) my first interactions with the staff on ward 3 were via the telephone. Each time I rang for updates I received considered, careful and precise feedback from every single person that I spoke to - I felt no question I asked regarding her physical or mental well being was a "problem" - ever, neither was I rushed to finish the calls. After a couple of calls, the telephone interaction with the staff became friendly, relaxed and created a confidence with in me that she was in great hands with people who genuinely cared - confirmation of which was abundantly clear when I visited. Each member of staff who interacted with their patients (and there were some seriously poorly ladies in the ward) did so genuinely and with care. The same hospital had cared for my father 18 years previously prior to his death and one thing I can confirm - that for all the cutbacks, longer hours and less staff endured - no one has knocked the professional and caring attitude out of any single member of staff at this hospital. These qualities are inherent and cannot be trained so how lucky is this ward to recruit so cleverly? I cannot praise the SN's, Nurses OT's, Doctors and staff any higher than saying they are a brilliant team, my mother was lucky to have been cared by you and you all easily deserve to be on double the salaries you are paid!

Hello, thank you so much for taking the time to write this review, it's always such a pleasure to read about patients' and families' positive experiences. Your kind words have been shared with the teams and managers, who really appreciate them. Best wishes, Sarah Mainprize
