My husband was recently diagnosed with a superficial bladder cancer which was thought to be contained. We had the pre operation visit 13 days before the op itself, On both occasions, it was a calm, and organised environment, where staff without exception, were considerate polite, cheerful and efficient. We had very little delay in the first appt. and none for the op. We felt. at every stage of the way that time was given, as if we were the only patients. Today, we arrived for the operation at 7 to find a smiling receptionist, whose manner at once put my husband at ease. Everything was done to ensure a safe op for my husband who suffers from sleep apnoea , which could cause issues with anaesthetics. All procedures were first explained by a staff nurse in an immaculate private room. Then we met the consultant anaesthetist who went over the choices, Then the surgeon came in and explained the op and its risks and possible outcomes,. The recovery was handled well, and husband was out mid afternoon, having been visited by the surgeon who discussed the ( fortunately) favourable results. Throughout the day, my husband was " minded" by the same nurse so there was continuity. All was professional, seamless , efficient , and calm, with all patients treated with respect and kindliness. We have always had good experiences with the NHS but this topped the lot!
"one day operation for bladder cancer, seamless,..."
