"Patient care"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Over a number of years I have had X-rays in Law Hospital as it was then, Wishaw and Monklands Hospital, and I think that the jovial characters who work in the NHS should be applauded, as in my case being worried about my condition was removed by the "banter" from both the porters who wheeled me about, and the radiographers who dealt with me.

It's not the best thing to be on a trolley for any longer than required, however when you hear patients and staff joking, it takes your mind of why you are there, which is why so many documentaries on HM Forces, which are difficult at times to watch, always show the jovial side between the injured personnel and their comrades, as well as the sad side in times of conflict.

If I had an opportunity to address any of your staff in the hospital, I would only use this one sentence "We can't spell success without U"

Dear Grandad Gerry

Thank you for sharing your experiences over the years of the care you have received within Lanarkshire Hospitals and for your very kind words.

Being in hospital regardless of the reason is a worrying and stressful time, I'm glad you found the 'banter' between staff and yourself and other patients was able to help take your mind off your ailments.I will share your comments with the Portering and Radiology teams.

Kind regards

Ruth
