"Showered with attention at Royal Hallamshire - Ward Q1"

The best thing about the way I was treated for pseudo gout in my left knee was the shower on ward Q1, I received lots of help and a buzzer was answered promptly when pressed. The medication was also given to me on time by the nurses. I would like to thank all the nurses, especially Rebecca, Suzanne, Andrew, Jan and the social worker Claire Ball. Also the lady physio's, but I don't remember their names.

I didn't like the strip wash bowl being put on my table that is used for meals, tissues, the water jug etc. The facilities for steeping dentures, cleaning them and using a mouth wash was hard to use, especially when you are immobile.

I don't know if this is relevant but I would like to say that the doctor who treated me could only prescribe codeine phosphate, 2 per day in addition to 8 paracetamol per day. These codeine phosphate tables made me feel so sick after I had been taking them for some days after I came out of hospital that I had to discontinue taking them. I could not eat anything or go to the toilet. In fact in my knee was preferable to how I felt in my stomach - burning acid and I was actually sick. I told my GP who prescribed some capsules to settle my stomach. As I write I have only just begun to take them today. I am not feeling sick now but can't yet eat normally - I am informed by the doctors that the tablets do not effect everyone the same way but "I would not recommend them to my worst enemy." Sorry to be so negative. I hope this is the kind of information you are looking for but feel free to ignore it if it is not.
