"Bad call"

About: Colchester General Hospital

My husband was taken into hospital yesterday after a Dr called to see him at home and made a decision to call an ambulance as his breathing was bad. He was lucky and got a bed straight away and many tests were carried out. I left him at 7pm I thought he was in for the night. Seemingly not at 12pm he was wheeled down to main entrance and left for a cab to take him home armed with a bag of pills and still in only his pjs. He was left there on his own no one around for best part of an hour waiting. Arrived home gasping for breath at 1am in a worst state than when he went in. Where has the care gone or does that go out the window once your bed is needed for the next patient. I was in hospital myself recently and thought things had improved but obviously not.

I apologise you’ve not had a good patient experience. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. We would like the opportunity to discuss your experiences more fully and to apologise in person. If you are willing I would appreciate it if I could ask the matron to contact you. Could you email me, using the reference “Comment on Accident and emergency services 01/04/2015 19:17:17”, please? Many thanks Paul Searle, Head of Communications Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
